Savanha...Feel the Sun...

At the southernmost tip of Africa lies a land whose rugged environment offers endless opportunity for adventure, and intrigue. A land whose striking beauty shows as much in its cultural mix as its rich and varied wildlife, and the beaches and mountains that form its flank. This is South Africa’s Western Cape, the home of Savanha wines.

Drenched in the warmth of the abundant South African sun. Savanha’s coastal vineyards offer ideal elements for the creation of premium wines. Long sunlight hours and the cooling breeze of the sea; nutrient-rich soils and a perfect degree of mountain slope for even vineyard catchment of the scarce summer rains.

These essential elements and their interplay are captured to perfection in the sunny Savanah wines. True to their varied terrior and driven by quality, the Savanha wines have captivated wine lovers globally.

A Champion for Sustainability….

At the heart of Savanha lies a commitment to preserving the society and environment in which we operate. Our long-term ability to operate depends on the health of our people and planet; and it is this that we know as sustainability.

Our commitment is expressed in many and varied ways, with the simple methods often the most ingenious. These may appear to some to have happened quite by chance; such as the cover crops that grow between the vineyard rows, binding and cooling the soil and encouraging earth worm life. Or the native birds that circle the vineyards in search of tasty rodents that we tend to know as vineyard pests.

Our efforts however are quite intentional; and are guided by specific goals set for posterity.

Our measured attempts in reducing water use have seen a 5% drop in cellar consumption, through such simple initiatives as water saving pipes. A 5% drop in the use of electricity owes in part to the insulation of cellar pipes and tanks; and the installation of energy-saving bulbs.

Our change to a permanent labor force has seen 30 vineyard workers achieve a sense of security. And our reclaimed barrels will soon become a source of income for local furniture artisans.
