HISTORY
The Indigo Wine Group was formed in 2002, as a partnership between Tim Rands of Robertson Winery, South Africa, and Richard Gupta, a wine importer living in Venice, Florida.

Initially, their objective was to introduce one of South Africa’s largest wineries, Robertson Winery to distributors in the United States. Basing the company in Venice, Florida, they utilized the services of a beverage logistics company in order to keep their focus on sales and marketing and commenced setting up a distributor network. The successful introduction of Robertson Winery caught the attention of Anthony Record and Tim Ford, owners of Domaine Gayda, located in France’s Languedoc region. They convinced the Indigo partners to take on the brand from Domaine Gayda, which lead to an equity investment in Indigo.

With the business developing at a rapid pace, it became apparent to the partners that in order to become a more meaningful supplier to their distribution partners, Indigo needed to offer a more well-rounded portfolio or products. Today Indigo represents a dynamic portfolio of wine brands from exciting wine regions around the world including several premium South African wineries: Bon Cap Organic Winery and Tulbagh Mountain Vineyards; as well as the prestigious New Zealand winery, Coopers Creek Vineyards, and the acclaimed Canadian ice wine producer, Pillitteri Estate Winery. Indigo is also proud to announce that as of June 1 2007, the renowned Italian Estate Winery Calatrasi will become part of their portfolio. The partners also made a decision to take Indigo to the next level of service, recreating it as a fully-integrated wine importing company.

In addition to the Venice Headquarter, Indigo employs sales managers in Texas, Illinois, New Jersey and Georgia. Along with management, they represent a combined total of 150-plus years experience in building wine brands in the United States. Indigo’s philosophy is to offer its suppliers and distribution partners the highest level of representation, service and support.
